Cannes Film Festival 2025: Tom Cruise Avoids Question About Future of Mission: Impossible Series
Tom Cruise appeared at the Cannes Film Festival on its second day, along with the full cast of the upcoming movie Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. They posed for photos and walked the red carpet before the movie’s big premiere.
The film is one of the most talked-about premieres at this year’s festival. Before the screening, Cruise spoke to reporters but avoided answering a key question: What will happen next with the Mission: Impossible franchise?
Cruise is once again playing his famous role as Ethan Hunt. He was joined at the event by co-stars Hannah Waddingham, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and others. The film’s director, Christopher McQuarrie, was also there.
When asked about the future of the movie series, Cruise replied, “Just let us show the movie tonight. This is like 30 years of work coming together, and I’d rather people just see it and enjoy it.”
He added, “We’ve had an amazing time making it. It’s been a lot of fun, and we just want everyone to enjoy this moment. Everything has led up to this.”
Cruise has starred in the Mission: Impossible movies since the first one came out in 1996. The films are based on a 1960s TV show of the same name. Over the years, the franchise has had several directors, with Brian De Palma directing the first film. McQuarrie has been in charge of the most recent ones.
While talking to the press, Cruise also said, “This has been a journey. Our lives are shaped by the choices we make. McQuarrie had a unique vision for this story, and I thought it was special. He knew how to pull out emotional moments and tell a meaningful story.”
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is set to release in theaters on May 21.
