EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Did You Know Kapil Sharma Was Surbhi Jyoti’s Professor in College?
In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, actress Surbhi Jyoti shared a sweet memory from her college days. She talked about how the famous comedian and actor Kapil Sharma once taught her acting in university!
Surbhi appeared on the show Behind the Success, where she opened up about her life before fame. She spoke about her time doing theatre in Chandigarh and mentioned a surprising fact—Kapil Sharma was like a professor to her and her friends during that time. Surbhi was in the same batch as Kapil’s now-wife, Ginni Chatrath, and Kapil used to come to their college to teach skits and plays.
Surbhi said, “Kapil and Bharti Singh were our seniors. Kapil had already passed out, but we still called him ‘sir’ out of respect. He wasn’t much older than us, but he used to help us with theatre since he had done a lot of it himself.”
She also shared a funny moment from those days: “Kapil is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. During practice, he used to crack jokes and then say, ‘Okay, let’s start the theatre now.’ But I would still be laughing at the joke, and then he would get annoyed! That’s how funny he is.”
Surbhi also revealed that Kapil met Ginni, his future wife, during this time. “Ginni used to do theatre with me, and I think that’s when she and Kapil met. He’s really very talented,” she added.
She mentioned that both Kapil and Bharti came from Amritsar and studied at the same university. Surbhi and Ginni were in the same college, and though Surbhi is not very active on social media, she said she still keeps in touch with everyone.
On the work front, Surbhi Jyoti has acted in many popular shows like Qubool Hai and Naagin 3.
