‘Got a lot of complaints’: Anupamaa producer Rajan Shahi finally speaks on Alisha Parveen’s sudden exit
Alisha Parveen earlier said that she was removed from the show Anupamaa without any proper reason. Now, the show’s producer, Rajan Shahi, has spoken up to clarify what really happened.
Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly in the lead role, is one of the most popular shows on Hindi TV. The show is often in the news for its dramatic twists, but recently it has also been making headlines because several actors have left the show.
Alisha Parveen played the role of Rahi, Anupamaa’s adopted daughter, but her time on the show was short. Alisha claimed her exit was sudden and without any explanation. However, Rajan Shahi, the show’s producer, explained the full story in an interview with Vickey Lalwani.
Rajan said, “Alisha had some good moments in her performance, but overall, the energy needed for the love story part was missing. We gave our full efforts, but it wasn’t working out as expected.”
He added, “I received many complaints from the creative team and directors saying she didn’t have that ‘x-factor’. In one scene she did well, with good emotions and energy, but after multiple meetings and feedback, there was still no improvement. The decision wasn’t sudden. Even the channel felt disappointed with her performance.”
Rajan also mentioned that about a month before officially removing her, he met Alisha at an award show and told her that the director was not happy with her work. So, according to him, she was already aware something wasn’t right, and her claim that the exit was abrupt is not true.
Talking about the statements Alisha made after leaving the show, Rajan said she blamed others for her removal. However, his production team chose not to react much because they wanted to focus on moving forward. He felt Alisha didn’t make enough effort to improve even after getting chances.
Rajan firmly denied all of Alisha’s claims. He said when a production house gives time, training, and workshops to an actor, it’s because they want to work with them long-term. If that doesn’t work out, it’s disappointing for the team as well. He added that taking a decision like this was necessary at that point.
In the past, other actors like Sudhanshu Pandey, Madalsa Sharma, and Paras Kalnawat have also left Anupamaa.
