EXCLUSIVE: Vikrant Massey to Star in Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, Set for Theatrical Release in Late 2026
Back in 2008, Karan Johar gave us the hit comedy film Dostana, starring Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. The movie was a big success and left fans wanting more. Now, after 18 years, the much-awaited sequel is finally happening!
According to inside sources, Karan Johar has chosen Vikrant Massey to play the lead role in Dostana 2, alongside Lakshya. A new actress, who will be making her debut, will join them as the female lead.
Dostana 2 Starts Filming in January 2026
The makers have been working on Dostana 2 for quite some time and have now found the perfect script to continue the franchise in a fresh and modern way. The plan is to begin shooting in January 2026 and release the film in late 2026.
Not Just a Web Release – It’s Coming to Theatres!
There were rumours that Dostana 2 might go straight to OTT, but that’s not true. A source confirmed, “Dostana 2 will release in cinemas. It will be a full-on entertainment film with music, comedy, romance, and drama. Discussions are on to finalize the director, and one will be locked within two weeks.”
What’s Next for Vikrant Massey
Before jumping into Dostana 2, Vikrant will wrap up two major projects: the Sri Sri Ravishankar biopic and Don 3, both expected to finish by the end of 2025. Vikrant is currently choosing scripts from different genres in commercial cinema, showing his versatility.
What’s Happening at Dharma Productions
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has a packed schedule. In 2026, they will also release Dhadak 2 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumari. Before that, they’re planning to start shooting Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Nagzilla later this year.
