The Royals Co-Star Comes to Bhumi Pednekar’s Defense Amid Online Criticism

‘I Believe She…’: Bhumi Pednekar’s The Royals Co-Star Defends Her After Social Media Criticism

Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter’s new series The Royals recently premiered on Netflix. While the romantic-comedy show is currently trending on OTT platforms, not everyone is happy with it. Some people online have been criticizing Bhumi’s performance. Now, her co-actor from the show, Udit Arora, has come forward to support her.

In The Royals, Ishaan and Bhumi play the lead roles. Although many fans loved the show, a few viewers gave negative reviews, especially targeting Bhumi’s acting. Responding to the backlash, Udit Arora—who plays Kunal Mehta in the series—shared his thoughts.

Speaking in an interview with Zoom, Udit said that it’s not possible to control people’s opinions. “People can like or dislike something, and that’s okay. We can’t do anything about that,” he said.

However, Udit also praised Bhumi, calling her a hardworking and sincere actor. “She’s been amazing with everyone on set. She gives more than 100 percent to her work,” he added. “We all do our jobs with complete honesty, and I believe she did the same.”

Udit Shares His Experience on Instagram

After the show was released, Udit shared some behind-the-scenes photos on his Instagram. In the caption, he wrote,
“Grateful is an understatement. Being part of The Royals on Netflix has been an unforgettable ride — every scene, every take, every laugh behind the camera. Couldn’t have asked for a better cast to share this journey with — what a team.”

About The Royals

In the show, Bhumi plays Sophia Shekhar — a smart, ambitious CEO of a company called Work Potato. Her character also falls in love with the young Maharaja, played by Ishaan Khatter. Udit plays her ex-boyfriend and the CFO of the same company.

The Royals is an 8-episode series and features a big ensemble cast including Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Lisa Mishra, Sumukhi Suresh, Yashaswini Dayama, and more.
