Cannes 2025: Janhvi Kapoor’s Funny Reaction to ‘Homebound’ Being Selected – You’ll Love This Story!
Janhvi Kapoor is making waves at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 with her beautiful red carpet looks. Her film Homebound premiered at the festival, and she recently shared a funny story about how she reacted when she first heard the film was selected.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Janhvi talked about that exciting moment. She said the news still hadn’t fully sunk in and she was still trying to believe it.
She explained that she felt thankful just to be part of the film and wasn’t really thinking about whether it would get picked for Cannes. She even told the director, Neeraj Ghaywan, how happy she was to be in the movie.
Janhvi then shared the fun part. One night, while she was at a small party, she got a call from Neeraj. He said, “I just got the email—we’ve been accepted into this category!” Janhvi admitted she couldn’t even pronounce the name of the category!
Excited, she said, “I jumped on someone and screamed and gasped!” But Neeraj quickly told her to calm down and keep it a secret for now. He also said he’d send her a list of do’s and don’ts. Janhvi laughed and said, “It got very technical very quickly!”
Homebound stars Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa along with Janhvi. It was shown in the “Un Certain Regard” section at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
The film tells the story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India. They both dream of becoming police officers to gain respect. But as they get closer to their goal, their growing desperation starts to test their friendship.
The movie is written and directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra.
