Well-known Telugu actor and stage performer GV Babu has sadly passed away today, May 25. As per reports, he had been unwell for a long time due to age-related health problems. He was receiving treatment at a hospital in Warangal, where he took his last breath.

GV Babu was most recently seen in the 2023 hit film Balagam. After the news of his passing broke, the film’s director, Venu Yeldandi, shared a heartfelt message on his social media (X) to express his sadness and honor GV Babu’s contribution to the film and to theatre.

Venu wrote:

“G.V. Babu is no more. He spent his entire life in the theater. In the last days, I was fortunate enough to introduce him through Balagam. May his soul rest in peace.”


About GV Babu and Balagam

Balagam is a widely appreciated Telugu family drama that was released in 2023. It was the debut film of director Venu Yeldandi and starred Priyadarshi, Kavya Kalyanram, Sudhakar Reddy, and GV Babu in important roles. The film is set in a village in Telangana and tells the emotional story of how one man’s death affects his entire family.

The story begins with the death of Komurayya, an elderly man. His passing brings out long-hidden tensions in the family, especially between his two sons-in-law who have not spoken to each other in 20 years. Komurayya’s grandson, Sayilu, is in a financial crisis and tries to use the funeral to solve his own problems.

Meanwhile, the villagers believe that Komurayya’s soul is causing trouble because his family is not united. The Panchayat steps in and asks the family to come together before the final rituals. The turning point comes when the family hears a sad song that touches their hearts and helps them realize the value of family and unity.
