“What if I am…”: When Janhvi Kapoor Opened Up About Her Biggest Insecurity With a Heartbreaking Answer
Janhvi Kapoor has come a long way since her acting debut in Dhadak in 2018. Over the years, she has taken on a range of challenging roles, with many people praising her growth as an actress. But along with that praise, she has also faced harsh criticism, which led to some deep personal insecurities.
In a 2022 interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, Janhvi was asked about her biggest insecurity. Her honest and emotional answer touched many hearts. She said,
“What if I am as little as people think I am? What if I’m really as limited as they believe?”
She went on to say that even though she believed in herself, there were days when doubt crept in, and she questioned whether the criticism might actually be true. She wondered if maybe she really didn’t have as much to offer as she hoped.
That same year, Janhvi impressed critics with two strong performances in Good Luck Jerry and Mili. When asked if she was aware of the negativity she received in her career, she admitted,
“I was. But now, I’m more focused on what I have to offer than on the criticism.”
Today, Janhvi is receiving a lot of love for her latest film Homebound, which just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The film, also starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, got a 9-minute standing ovation. It’s directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Karan Johar, with Hollywood director Martin Scorsese joining as executive producer earlier this year.
Janhvi is also getting ready for her next romantic film Param Sundari opposite Sidharth Malhotra. Directed by Tushar Jalota, it’s set to release on July 25, 2025. After that, she’ll be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Varun Dhawan, directed by Shashank Khaitan, which is expected to hit theaters on September 12, 2025.
