Interview: Kajol Talks About Kids Nysa and Yug, Her Biggest Parenting Lesson: “When I Reach Home…” – EXCLUSIVE
Actress Kajol, who is married to actor Ajay Devgn, recently spoke with Pinkvilla in an exclusive interview. She opened up about her life as a mom to her two kids, Nysa and Yug, and shared her most important lesson as a parent.
Kajol on Raising Nysa and Yug
Kajol and Ajay Devgn got married on February 24, 1999, in a simple Maharashtrian wedding. The couple has two children — Nysa, born in 2003, and Yug, born in 2010.
When asked if her kids are more attached to her or to Ajay, Kajol smiled and said,
“They are both my kids. Ajay is not sitting on the side stage or anything. They belong to both of us. And I’m proud to say they are very much their own people.”
She also shared a funny and sweet moment with Yug.
“I asked him once, ‘Do you want to look like me or Papa?’ He looked at me like I was holding a gun to his head, and then calmly said, ‘I look like Yug. I am Yug.’ That really shows how independent he is.”
Her Biggest Parenting Lesson
Kajol says she’s happy that her children have their own personalities and can think for themselves.
“That’s been my biggest lesson and goal as a parent — to raise individuals, not just followers.”
When asked how her kids react when she comes home after work, Kajol laughed and said,
“The minute I walk in the door, it’s all ‘Mumma!’ followed by whining like, ‘Why didn’t you do this?’ or ‘Why didn’t you bring that?’ Once I meet them, I’m just Mom. No other role matters at that moment.”
She also spoke about becoming a mother for the first time.
“When Nysa was born, I felt like that was one test I just couldn’t afford to fail. Honestly, real-life parenting takes more out of me than any movie ever will.”
Kajol’s Upcoming Film
On the work front, Kajol is getting ready for the release of her new movie Maa, which hits theaters on June 27. The film is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, and Kumar Mangat Pathak.
The film also stars Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, Gopal Singh, Surjyasikha Das, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Roopkatha Chakraborty, and Kherin Sharma.
