Ranvir Shorey Breaks Silence on Jaya Bachchan’s Nepotism Comments: Here’s His Take

Ranvir Shorey, a star from Bigg Boss OTT 3, previously expressed frustration when Jaya Bachchan supported the nepotism debate in Bollywood during a Parliament session at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown. Recently, he revisited this topic to clarify his stance.

In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Ranvir explained that his earlier comments were not meant as a personal attack on Jaya Bachchan. He said, “I didn’t say it in response to Jaya ji’s remarks. Her comments were all over the internet. Everyone was talking about her ‘thaali’ statement, so I shared my opinion too, but it wasn’t aimed at her specifically.”

Ranvir admitted he was likely quite upset when he made those comments and acknowledged that some people thought he had other motives. He noted that if he were to express the same views now, he would probably do so in a less sarcastic way.

Four years after the lockdown, Ranvir and other stars felt frustration when Jaya Bachchan criticized the Bollywood industry. Jaya had implied that some stars were ungrateful for the industry that had supported them.

In Parliament, Jaya Bachchan famously said, “Jis thali mai khate ho ussi mai ched karte hai,” which means, “They bite the hand that feeds them.” In response, Ranvir wrote in 2020, “They decorate plates (thaalis) for their kids. We pack our own tiffin and go to work.”

On the professional front, Ranvir gained notable attention from his participation in Bigg Boss OTT 3, where he had several clashes with Sana Maknu, who ultimately won the show. Despite not winning, Ranvir remained upbeat. Soon after leaving the show, he announced his new project, Shekhar Home, alongside Kay Kay Menon, now available on Jio Cinema.
