Juhi Chawla once shared that she was originally chosen to play Draupadi in BR Chopra’s famous TV show Mahabharat. However, she ended up not taking the role, and Roopa Ganguly played Draupadi instead.
In an early interview, Juhi Chawla talked about meeting BR Chopra. She described him as very respectful and said he even did a screen test for her. Although he selected her for the role, BR Chopra advised her not to take it. He suggested she focus on her film career instead, which was just starting with her film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
Juhi was new to the industry at the time and didn’t have much experience. Her meeting with BR Chopra happened before her debut film Sultanat came out in 1986.
Mahabharat, created by BR Chopra, is one of India’s most famous mythological shows. It featured a great cast including Nitish Bharadwaj, Mukesh Khanna, and Roopa Ganguly. The show originally aired from 1988 to 1990 and became incredibly popular again when it was re-aired during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Juhi Chawla is a well-known actress with many hit films like Darr, Yes Boss, and Duplicate.
