On Sunday, September 8, Vikas Sethi, well-known for his role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, sadly passed away at the age of 48 due to a heart attack. His sudden death shocked fans, who have been revisiting his final Instagram post from May, which was a heartfelt tribute to Mother’s Day.
Vikas’s last Instagram post, shared on May 12, was a loving message to his mother. In the photo, Vikas is seen wearing a green kurta and white pajama, sitting beside his mother, Surekha Sethi, who is preparing an aarti thali. He captioned the photo, “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY… MOM LOVE YOU.” After hearing the news of his passing, fans flooded the post with messages of condolence. One fan wrote, “I’m watching Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and checked Wikipedia, then saw this terrible news… Prayers for the family.” Another commented, “Too young to die! It breaks my heart. You were a fabulous actor. May your soul rest in peace.”
In an interview with PTI, Vikas’s wife, Jhanvi Sethi, shared details about his final moments. She explained that they were in Nashik for a family event when Vikas started feeling unwell, suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. Despite his hesitance to go to the hospital, they arranged for a doctor to visit. Unfortunately, when Jhanvi checked on him at around 6 am on Sunday, he had already passed away in his sleep. The doctor later confirmed that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. His body has been sent to Cooper Hospital in Mumbai for a post-mortem.
Vikas Sethi was known for supporting roles in popular TV shows in the 2000s. He made his film debut in the 2003 drama Oops!, where he played a male stripper who falls in love with his best friend’s mother. He also appeared in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham as Robbie, Kareena Kapoor’s friend, and in the 2001 film Deewaanapan alongside Arjun Rampal and Dia Mirza. In 2019, he had a significant role in the Telugu hit ISmart Shankar.
