Kirron Kher’s Brave Cancer Battle: Shooting India’s Got Talent During Treatment

Kirron Kher talks about her cancer journey; reveals she filmed India’s Got Talent during treatment

Famous actress Kirron Kher recently spoke about her experience with cancer and how she continued to work on the show India’s Got Talent while receiving treatment.

Kirron Kher, a popular Bollywood actress, is known for being a judge on the talent show India’s Got Talent. In a rare personal interview, she shared how she managed to film the show while battling cancer. Despite the challenges, she stayed committed to her work.

Speaking to News18, Kirron mentioned that she took a break from acting and moved to Chandigarh, her hometown. She explained, “I was only doing India’s Got Talent and had shifted to Chandigarh. Even while undergoing intense treatment, I kept my promise to the show. I didn’t take on any other projects, including films. I can’t leave that show.”

Kirron Kher was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, in 2020. Reflecting on her fight, she said, “Everyone worries about getting a serious illness one day, but when it happens, you just have to accept it. The treatment, with all its side effects, was worse than the disease. The first six to eight months were really tough, but I trusted God. I’ve always believed that God fights my battles.”

She also mentioned that cancer treatments often last for years and need to be done at regular intervals.

Kirron Kher started her acting career in 1983 with the Punjabi film Aasra Pyar Da. She has since become a well-known actress in many Hindi films like Devdas, Main Hoon Na, Veer–Zaara, Fanaa, and Om Shanti Om. She has been hosting India’s Got Talent since 2009.
