EXCLUSIVE: Aarya Babbar Shares If He Feels Pressure to Live Up to His Dad Raj Babbar’s Legacy
Aarya Babbar recently returned to television after an 8-year break with his new show Jagriti – Ek Nayi Subah. As the son of famous actor Raj Babbar, many wonder if Aarya feels pressure to live up to his father’s name. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Aarya opened up about this.
When asked about the pressure to keep up with his father’s legacy, Aarya said, “I don’t see it as pressure now. But maybe there was pressure when I was around 20-21 years old, when I made my debut. At that time, there’s more pressure because you’re just starting out. But after that, I don’t feel the same pressure. The real pressure is how to survive in the industry. How to keep getting work.”
He continued, “In this industry, it doesn’t matter whose son or daughter you are if your films aren’t doing well. What really matters is your performance at the box office. But I never lost faith in my talent. I know I’m very talented, and I believe I deserve a lot more. Just because things aren’t working out for me right now doesn’t mean Aarya Babbar isn’t talented. I am, and I’ll get my due when the time is right.”
Aarya also mentioned that no actor should ever feel fully satisfied or content with their career. “The hunger to achieve more should never be completely fulfilled. If an actor feels 100% content, they’ll lose their drive. There should always be something more to reach for,” he added.
In Aarya’s new show Jagriti – Ek Nayi Subah, he plays Kalikanth Thakur, a patriarchal and misogynistic character in a fictional city called Mokshgarh. In the show, newborns from a certain clan are labeled criminals at birth, denied basic rights like education, and forced into professions like hunting due to exploitation by feudal landlords.
