EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Jiya Shankar Shares How Genelia D’Souza and Riteish Deshmukh Supported Her During a Tough Time
In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Bigg Boss OTT 2’s Jiya Shankar opened up about how her Ved co-stars Genelia D’Souza and Riteish Deshmukh reached out to her when she was going through a difficult time.
Jiya Shankar appeared on Pinkvilla’s show “Behind the Scenes” and shared her experiences about love, relationships, childhood struggles, and more. She revealed that when her mother was recently hospitalized, Genelia and Riteish checked in on her.
Talking about this, Jiya said, “They are such kind people. When my mom was in the hospital, I posted a tweet about it. I believe that if medicine doesn’t work, prayers will. So, I asked my fans and well-wishers to keep her in their prayers, as they know and care about me and my mom.”
She continued, “I was really upset during that time. The tweet went viral, and many people messaged and prayed for my mom.”

Jiya also shared, “Genelia saw my tweet and called me. She’s really sweet, and so is Riteish. They are an amazing couple and wonderful people. Genelia called, and I even spoke to Riteish sir. They told me to let them know if I needed any help. They’re really kind. It’s a blessing to know such people.”
Talking about her mother’s health now, Jiya said that her mom is feeling much better.
When asked how her role in the movie Ved changed her career, Jiya mentioned that it made a positive impact. More people in the industry began to recognize her after the film. She said that even though not everyone might know her, being recognized is a big deal for her.
Jiya also shared her experience working on the Marathi movie Ved, saying it felt like being at “home.” Since the movie was dubbed in Hindi, many non-Maharashtrian viewers enjoyed it too.
The actress also revealed that she’ll be starring in an upcoming Tamil movie. While she didn’t share many details, she mentioned she’s very excited about it.
Talking about her experience on the Tamil movie set, Jiya said, “It was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had in my career. Everyone—the director, the production team, and the others—were so talented. I had so much fun working on that project. They were all such wonderful people.”
She added, “On most sets, there’s usually at least one person you don’t get along with, but that wasn’t the case here. Everyone was great at their jobs and a pleasure to work with. I’m full of love and happiest when I’m on set, doing what I love. I enjoy interacting with people and the positive energy they bring.”
Jiya Shankar’s Tamil movie is expected to release in 2024.
