Nidhi Bhanushali, who played the role of Sonu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, once shared that she doesn’t watch the show anymore. Nidhi took over the role of Sonu after Jheel Mehta left in 2012 and stayed until 2019, when she left to pursue higher studies. Currently, Palak Sindhwani plays the character.
In an interview with The Times of India, Nidhi admitted that she stopped watching Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah a long time ago. She even mentioned that she didn’t watch the show much even when she was acting in it. “I stopped watching the show a long time ago. Even while I was on it, I didn’t watch it often. I don’t watch much TV in general,” Nidhi said. Despite not following the show, she still keeps in touch with her former co-stars.
Recently, Nidhi attended the vow renewal ceremony of the show’s director, Malav, and his wife, where she reconnected with many of the actors from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
After leaving the show, Nidhi focused on other things, like her travel videos, which got a lot of attention. She recently made her comeback in acting with a role in the Amazon Prime series Sisterhood, alongside Ann D’Silva, Zoya Baig, and Nikita Waghmare.
Nidhi Bhanushali, born on March 16, 1999, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, gained fame for playing Sonu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. She has also appeared in Montu Ki Paltan (2020) and Sisterhood (2024).
TMKOC, or Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is one of India’s longest-running sitcoms, based on Tarak Mehta’s column Duniya Ne Undha Chasma. The show, produced by Asit Kumarr Modi, first aired on July 28, 2008, on Sony SAB and is available on SonyLIV.
