When Salman Khan Broke Down the Door Instead of CID’s Inspector Daya to Solve a Case – A Throwback
The popular show CID is making a comeback with a new season, bringing back memories for fans of all ages. In celebration, let’s look back at a memorable episode when Bollywood star Salman Khan joined the CID team to help them solve a thrilling case.
In a clip shared on Sony TV’s official X channel, Salman is seen asking a journalist to call the police before he boldly kicks down a door himself. The surprised goons shout, “Salman, tu?” as he demands to know whose murder they’re plotting. When they warn him not to act like a hero, saying this isn’t a movie, Salman responds, “Movie or real life, in the end, the thief always gets beaten up.”
One goon then pulls out a knife, threatening Salman. But the Dabangg star coolly says, “Bhai bolta hai, aur chaku dikhata hai?” before taking down the goons in a fight. At the end of the scene, the CID team is seen investigating the case.
This episode was part of the promotion for Salman’s movie Kick, and he wasn’t the only star to join the CID team on-screen. Other Bollywood stars like Vidyut Jammwal, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, and Shraddha Kapoor also appeared in special episodes.
CID originally went off air on October 27, 2018, after a 20-year run on Sony TV, making it one of India’s longest-running TV shows. The cast included Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman, Aditya Srivastava as Sr. Inspector Abhijeet, Dayanand Shetty as Sr. Inspector Daya, the late Dinesh Phadnis as Inspector Fredricks, and Narendra Gupta as Dr. Salunkhe, among others.
