Dayanand Shetty Shares His Tough Experiences Shooting for CID: ‘It Felt Like Military Training’
The popular TV show CID is making a comeback, and fans are thrilled to see their favourite cast members—Dayanand Shetty, Aditya Srivastava, and ACP Pradyuman—returning to their iconic roles. Recently, Dayanand Shetty, known for playing Senior Inspector Daya, opened up about his experiences filming the earlier episodes and how CID was different from other TV shows.
Talking about the work culture on the CID set, Dayanand shared that everyone was treated equally, without any special treatment for big or small actors. Unlike many shows where actors have individual vanity vans, the CID team shared one makeup room. Even when they had separate spaces, they would open them up to create a larger room to hang out together.
“There was no feeling of someone being more important,” Dayanand said. “We all treated each other with respect, whether they were leaving the show or staying. It felt like a military setup—everyone did their job, with no one feeling superior or inferior.”
Dayanand also recalled the challenging conditions they faced while shooting CID. Sometimes, they had to climb down into manholes, sewers, or dirty water if the scene required it. “We never told the director, ‘We can’t do that because it’s dirty,’” he explained. “You don’t say no. Filming was done at a military level of dedication.”
Dayanand believes what made CID so engaging was that every day brought something new. “The locations and guest actors kept changing. Some days, we worked with big stars; other days, with different actors. We shot at about 15–17 locations for each episode, so there was never a chance to get bored.”
The new season of CID is set to premiere in December. The first promo, released on October 26, has already built up excitement and suspense among fans, showing a tense moment between Daya and Abhijeet (played by Aditya Srivastava), leaving ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam) in a tough spot.
