Reem Shaikh Shares How Parents Opposed Posting Her Burned Face Photo, Calls It a Life-Changing Experience
Reem Shaikh, a talented actress who has been part of the industry since childhood, recently opened up about a life-changing accident she faced on the sets of Laughter Chefs. While making chashni (sugar syrup), it splashed onto her face, burning the right side. Despite the painful experience, Reem displayed immense courage, continuing to work and sharing her scarred face on social media—a decision her parents initially disagreed with.
Parents Were Concerned About Career Impact
In a roundtable discussion with fellow actresses Rupali Ganguly, Shivangi Joshi, Samridhii Shukla, and Anita Raaj, Reem recounted the incident. She revealed how her parents were against her decision to post the photo. They worried it might affect her career, saying, “Producers ne dekh liya, dobara kabhi kaam pe nahi bulayenge” (If producers see it, they won’t call you for work).
However, Reem felt strong enough to share her scars, showing resilience in the face of adversity.
The Accident and Reem’s Reaction
Talking about the incident, Reem said, “I was making chashni, and it overheated. It splashed, burning the right side of my face.” She admitted her initial reaction was panic: “My first thought was, ‘Career is gone, think of something else.’”
But the next morning, seeing her swollen face in the mirror, she decided to remain positive: “If God has made this happen to me, I am sure I have the strength to overcome it.”
Healing and Returning to Work
Reem shared that her injuries healed remarkably quickly. Within 15 days, most of the wounds had disappeared, and after a month and a half, the scars were barely visible. She even resumed shooting for Laughter Chefs just a week after the incident, working with her wounds and scars.
Reflecting on the experience, Reem called it “life-changing,” saying it taught her to handle challenges positively.
