Fans of the classic crime show CID are in for a treat as the show is returning with a second season. Starring Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman, Dayanand Shetty as Daya, and Aditya Srivastava as Abhijeet, CID is set to make its big comeback on December 21, 2024.
CID Returns After Two Years
After keeping audiences hooked for over 20 years, CID is back! The new season will air every Saturday and Sunday at 10 PM on Sony TV. The announcement was made in a recent promo, which has excited fans all over again.
A Thrilling Twist in the Promo
The promo shows a shocking moment when Daya (played by Dayanand Shetty) is hit by a deadly bullet. But in an incredible twist, Daya makes a heroic comeback in his iconic style. He enters with a powerful line: “Dushman bhi mujhe mita nahi paaye, main wapas aagaya, apne liye ladne aur jo bhool gaya hai, usse yaad dilane ki liye – ‘Daya is back!’” (The enemy couldn’t defeat me, I’m back to fight for myself and remind those who forgot – ‘Daya is back!’).
Dayanand Shetty’s Excitement
Dayanand Shetty, who plays Daya, shared his excitement about returning to the show. He said, “Some characters are etched in the minds and hearts of people, and Daya is one of them. The love and admiration I receive for Daya is overwhelming, even after all these years. The memes, jokes, and references are proof of Daya’s impact on popular culture.”

A Long-Running Legacy
For those who don’t know, CID first aired on Sony TV in 1998 and went off the air in 2018 after a successful 20-year run. It is one of the longest-running TV series in India. The show is set to return with fresh episodes, starting in December 2024.
