Rupali Ganguly’s Stepdaughter Esha Verma Explains Why She Deleted Posts After Legal Notice: ‘It Wasn’t Out of Fear…’
Esha Verma, stepdaughter of Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly, recently made headlines after accusing Rupali of serious misconduct through social media posts. These accusations led Rupali to file a massive Rs 50 crore defamation case against Esha. Shortly after, Esha deleted the posts, sparking curiosity about her decision.
Now, Esha has responded to the legal notice with a detailed explanation. In a heartfelt three-page note shared on Instagram, she clarified her reasons for deleting the posts and denied certain claims.
Esha opened up about her struggles, explaining that sharing her experiences brought her peace and clarity after staying silent for 24 years. Her intention, she said, was to share her truth and inspire others going through similar situations.
Addressing the defamation case, Esha expressed disappointment and said she feels unfairly punished. “I am still my father’s child, even as a young adult. Their reaction to my statements was harsh and revealed their true character. I wasn’t just anyone speaking out — I am a family member who was directly affected,” she wrote.
On Body-Shaming and Stepbrother Allegations
Esha accused Rupali of body-shaming her during a 2017 photoshoot in Mumbai, which deeply impacted her. She also clarified rumors about involving her stepbrother, Rudransh (Rupali and Ashwin’s son), in the controversy. “I never dragged a minor into this. I only shared facts about their marriage and my experiences,” she stated.
Why Esha Deleted Her Posts
Rupali Ganguly’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, claimed that Esha removed the posts after receiving the legal notice. However, Esha explained that this decision wasn’t made out of fear. “I archived the posts after 48 hours and deactivated certain platforms because I had said everything I needed to. I wanted to protect my peace and focus on the present,” she said.
Final Statement
Esha declared this as her last statement on the matter, saying her goal was to clarify misconceptions without prolonging the issue. She concluded, “This experience has been tough but has shown me my strength. I’m ready to move forward with peace, authenticity, and dignity, surrounded by those who truly matter.”
Background
The controversy began when an old post by Esha from 2020 went viral. Rupali’s husband, Ashwin Verma, defended Rupali, insisting she had no role in his strained relationship with Esha. However, Esha was dissatisfied with his response and made additional allegations, sharing childhood experiences of hardship.
On November 11, Rupali filed a Rs 50 crore defamation case against Esha for damaging her reputation.
Both sides have shared their perspectives, but Esha has now decided to move on, focusing on her future while putting this chapter behind her.
