Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, Faces Rs 850 Crore Legal Notice Over Cancer Treatment Claims
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, has received a legal notice demanding Rs 850 crore in damages. The notice, issued by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS), alleges that statements made by Navjot Singh Sidhu about his wife’s cancer treatment were misleading and harmful.
Why Was the Notice Issued?
The controversy began when Navjot Singh Sidhu spoke about his wife’s battle with stage 4 cancer in a recent interview. He credited her recovery to a strict diet including neem, turmeric, lemon, water, and beetroot. These claims drew criticism from medical professionals, who warned that promoting unverified treatments could mislead cancer patients.
The CCS accused Sidhu of spreading misinformation about cancer treatments and demanded an apology within seven days. They have threatened legal action if he cannot provide evidence to support his claims.
Doctors Raise Concerns
Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, the convener of CCS, emphasized that such statements could endanger cancer patients. He warned that people might abandon prescribed medical treatments in favor of alternative remedies, risking their health.
Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Clarification
Amid the backlash, Navjot Singh Sidhu issued a clarification through a video on his social media. He explained that his wife’s recovery involved surgeries, chemotherapy, and hormonal therapy. The diet he mentioned was only a supplementary part of her treatment, designed in collaboration with doctors.
“A doctor is like God to me, and their guidance has always been our priority. The diet was just a supportive measure alongside proper medical treatments,” Sidhu clarified.
CCS’s Stance
The CCS insists that Sidhu’s statements could mislead other cancer patients into abandoning proven medical treatments. They have demanded an apology and supporting evidence for his claims. If these demands are not met, they plan to initiate legal proceedings.
This controversy has sparked widespread debate about the importance of accurate information when discussing medical treatments, especially for serious illnesses like cancer.
