Zakir Hussain Death: TV Celebs Shweta Tiwari, Aly Goni, and Others Mourn the Loss of Tabla Maestro

The music world has lost a legend with the passing of Ustad Zakir Hussain, the famous tabla maestro, at the age of 73. Known for his incredible talent and contribution to both Indian classical music and world music, Zakir Hussain’s death has deeply saddened his fans and celebrities. TV stars like Shweta Tiwari, Aly Goni, Kashmera Shah, and Devoleena Bhattacharjee took to social media to share their condolences and honor his legacy.

Kashmera Shah shared a picture of Zakir Hussain and wrote, “RIP.” Aly Goni shared a verse from the Quran, saying, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. RIP Legend.” Shweta Tiwari posted a picture of the tabla maestro with the message, “We lost our legend today. Very sad news.” Devoleena Bhattacharjee also shared a video of Zakir Hussain and wrote, “Om Shanti.”

Ustad Zakir Hussain had a career that spanned more than 60 years. He worked with famous artists from India and around the world, helping to push the boundaries of music. One of his most famous projects was in 1973 when he worked with guitarist John McLaughlin, violinist L. Shankar, and percussionist T.H. Vinayakram to blend Indian classical music with jazz, creating a new standard in world music.

Earlier this year, Zakir Hussain won three more Grammy Awards at the 66th Grammy Awards, bringing his total to four. He continued to inspire people with his creativity and ability to connect different cultures through his music.

Zakir Hussain passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, in a hospital in San Francisco. He had been hospitalized for the past two weeks and was moved to the ICU when his condition worsened due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a rare lung disease.
