Ridhi Dogra Opens Up About Facing Hurtful Comments from a Director: ‘I Even Fought Back’
In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Ridhi Dogra shared stories from her personal and professional journey. She talked about how she gives her best to every role she takes up and approaches her work with the mindset of a “student.” She explained how she listens carefully to her directors and dedicates herself completely to the process.
A Memorable Incident on Set
Ridhi recalled an incident during the shooting of a TV show where she suggested some changes to her performance. Instead of appreciating her input, the directors mocked her, saying, “She will get the Oscars.”
She explained, “Comments like these are deflating. I understand why people think this way—because there’s no pride left in television anymore.”
Ridhi didn’t let this slide, though. “If someone tried to make me feel small, I always stood up for myself. I fought back,” she said.
She also shared another moment when a co-actor told her the director had remarked they couldn’t film the show like a big movie because Ridhi wasn’t Aishwarya Rai. Ridhi confronted the director directly. “He said, ‘She’s no Aishwarya Rai,’ so I replied, ‘And you’re no Mani Ratnam.’”
The Challenges of TV
Ridhi revealed that the television industry often lacks respect among its members. “Many people in the TV industry don’t take pride in calling themselves TV actors. Instead, they belittle one another,” she shared.
Exploring New Horizons
In the same interview, Ridhi talked about her experiences working in web series, her time acting alongside Shah Rukh Khan, and the lessons she’s learned in her career.
Ridhi Dogra first became a household name with her role in Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak. Despite challenges, she continues to grow and inspire with her talent and courage.
