Ram Kapoor Opens Up About Controversial Intimate Scene in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain
Ram Kapoor, famous for his stellar performances in the entertainment world, is best known for his role in the hit show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. The show created a buzz when Ram and Sakshi Tanwar’s intimate scene aired on television, sparking debates about TV content standards. Ram even revealed discussing the scene with Sakshi’s father before filming it.
In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Ram was asked if he had to apologize after shooting a 17-minute intimate scene with Sakshi in the show. Ram clarified, “I didn’t apologize. Ektaa had to apologize.” He explained that as an actor, his job was to perform what the script demanded without creating any fuss.
How the Scene Was Planned
Ram shared that Ekta Kapoor, the show’s producer, was firm about including the intimate scene in the storyline. He admitted feeling unsure about such a scene being shown on television. Ram said, “Ektaa was very confident that it should be done, and she trusted us.”
Before agreeing, Ram sought his wife Gautami Kapoor’s opinion. She left the decision to him. Ram also approached Sakshi Tanwar to ensure she was comfortable with the scene. He reassured her that he would speak to Ektaa if she had any reservations.
Ram fondly remembered Sakshi’s father’s response, saying, “Sakshi’s father told me, ‘Ram, it’s you, so everything is okay.’ They trusted me.”
Shooting and Aftermath
Sakshi eventually agreed, and they shot the scene over two nights. Ram recalled that once the scene aired, Ekta Kapoor handled the backlash. “It wasn’t our idea; it was hers, and we followed it,” Ram explained.
When asked if the controversy caused any awkwardness between him and Sakshi, Ram firmly denied it, saying their professional relationship remained unaffected.
A Show Loved by All
Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, featuring Ram as Ram Kapoor and Sakshi as Priya, aired from May 30, 2011, to July 10, 2014. The show’s storyline, acting, and the on-screen chemistry between the lead pair won hearts, making it a memorable part of Indian television history.
