Bigg Boss 18, Jan 12 Written Update: Salman Khan Reveals Shreyas Iyer as Punjab Kings Captain for IPL 2025
In today’s episode of Bigg Boss 18 (January 12), host Salman Khan made a big announcement that left fans excited. Cricketer Shreyas Iyer was officially unveiled as the new captain of Punjab Kings for the upcoming IPL 2025 season.
The episode was packed with special guests. Krushna Abhishek and Kashmera Shah visited to promote Laughter Chefs Season 2, while cricketers Yuzvendra Chahal, Shashank Singh, and Shreyas Iyer also joined the stage. During their chat with Salman Khan, the spotlight turned to Punjab Kings, and Salman revealed the much-awaited news about Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy.
This announcement wasn’t entirely surprising, as Shreyas was already a favorite for the role. He was acquired by Punjab Kings for a whopping ₹26.75 crore during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, making him one of the season’s most expensive players. Last year, Shreyas led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their third IPL title, further boosting his leadership credentials.
Alongside Shreyas, Punjab Kings also secured Yuzvendra Chahal for ₹18 crore and retained Shashank Singh for ₹5.5 crore.
After the announcement, Punjab Kings shared the news on their social media. Shreyas expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored that the team has put its faith in me. I will do my best to repay that trust and bring home our maiden title.”
The cricketers also entered the Bigg Boss house for some fun. They played a friendly game of underarm cricket with the contestants. Shreyas teamed up with Vivian Dsena and Rajat Dalal, while Karan Veer Mehra joined forces with Yuzvendra Chahal and Shashank Singh. Avinash Mishra entertained everyone by doing commentary in the voices of famous Bollywood characters.
During their chat with Salman Khan, Shashank and Shreyas shared their admiration for the actor. Salman extended his best wishes to the players and the Punjab Kings team for the upcoming IPL season.
