Shark Tank India 4: Namita Thapar and Anupam Mittal Clash; Anupam Calls Out ‘Disrespect’
The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 was full of drama as Sharks Anupam Mittal and Namita Thapar got into a heated argument over a deal. The tension unfolded during a pitch by Rosha, a brand specializing in wireless lamps.
The Pitch
Rosha, founded by childhood friends Kawardeep Singh, Gaurav Tikiya, and Shivam Diwan, introduced India’s first portable, rechargeable lighting brand. With over 100 designs and plans to expand into solar wireless lamps, the trio sought Rs 60 lakhs for 1% equity at a Rs 60 crore valuation.
They shared that half of their products are made in India and mentioned endorsements from celebrities like Hrithik Roshan. A personal anecdote about Aman Gupta’s mother purchasing one of their lamps added a warm touch to their pitch.
The Debate
While the Sharks praised the product’s design, Anupam Mittal questioned the brand’s unique selling proposition and profitability, especially in the B2B segment. Namita Thapar, on the other hand, doubted the valuation and business model.
Anupam made an offer: Rs 60 lakhs for 3% equity and a 1.5% royalty on sales until 1.5 times his investment was recovered. He later teamed up with Ritesh Agarwal, raising the equity ask to 4%. Meanwhile, Aman Gupta countered with Rs 60 lakhs for 2% equity and a 1% royalty, which Anupam quickly matched.
When Namita opted out of the deal, she criticized the offers as “exploitation.” This led to a sharp exchange between her and Anupam, who fired back, saying, “Exploitation is when you sit on a tank and don’t give an offer.”
Anupam Loses His Cool
The argument escalated when the pitchers suggested Aman could take the deal alone. Anupam, visibly upset, said, “I am out of this deal. You keep talking about respect, but you are coming back with an offer Aman can do alone, which is the highest form of disrespect. Even if you offer me equity for free now, I don’t want it.”
The Outcome
After some back-and-forth, Ritesh and Aman offered Rs 60 lakhs for 5% equity with a 2% royalty. Eventually, the deal reverted to Anupam’s original terms, but without him participating.
The pitchers sealed the deal with Aman and Ritesh, calling them their “dream team.”
The intense episode left viewers talking about the clash between Namita and Anupam, adding yet another dramatic moment to this season of Shark Tank India.
