Mahir Pandhi to Make His Mythological Debut in Veer Hanuman, Talks About His Double Role
Actor Mahir Pandhi, who was last seen in Vanshaj, is all set to return to television in a completely new role. He will be playing a double role as Bali and Sugreev in the upcoming mythological show Veer Hanuman. The show also stars Sayli Salunkhe and Arav Chowdharry in lead roles.
In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Mahir talked about his role, his experience working in the mythological genre, and his bond with his co-stars.
Why Mahir Pandhi Said Yes to Veer Hanuman
Mahir shared that he didn’t think twice before accepting the role. He said,
“You don’t say no to the production house you’ve worked with before. I had a wonderful experience with them earlier, and I’m happy to be back. It’s exciting because I’m returning to the same channel in just 2-3 months with a completely different role. Plus, playing a double role makes it even more thrilling!”
He also revealed that he was drawn to the mythological genre, something he has never done before. He said,
“I’ve never worked in a mythology-based show before, and that really interested me. We have all heard these stories, but we don’t know every detail. While preparing for my role, I was amazed by how much history and storytelling there is in these legends.”
Preparing for His Role
Since mythological shows require a lot of research, Mahir explained how he prepared for his characters.
“I read the script carefully to understand Bali and Sugreev. They were brothers, so they had similarities, but they were also very different. Understanding these small differences was a learning process for me.”
He didn’t reveal too much about the challenges he faced but did say that playing these characters was a unique experience. He shared,
“This is totally different from the regular shows I’ve done. In mythology, everything is detailed—the costumes, the characters, the way they behave. Plus, these aren’t just human roles; they are vanars (monkey warriors), so we have to wear dentures, tails, and other things that make the experience very different.”
His Bond with Co-Stars
Mahir also spoke about his bond with co-actors Sayli Salunkhe and Arav Chowdharry. Since his character Bali doesn’t have many scenes with their side of the story, he hasn’t interacted much with them on set. However, he said,
“We do meet often, which is nice. I have known them from before, so working together feels comfortable.”
Are Mythological Shows Still Relevant Today?
Mahir believes mythological shows need to evolve to connect with today’s audience. He explained,
“The challenge is to present these stories in a way that today’s viewers can relate to. It’s not the 80s, 90s, or even the early 2000s anymore. Audiences today are smart, and they need stories that feel relevant to them. That’s something we are working on in Veer Hanuman.”
With this exciting project, Mahir Pandhi is ready to surprise his fans with something completely new. Stay tuned for Veer Hanuman!
