Doree Exclusive: Ishaan Dhawan Talks About His Role, Challenges, and Bond with Co-actors
Ishaan Dhawan, known for his roles in Dhruv Tara and Gud Se Meetha Ishq, is currently playing Maan Thakur in Doree Season 2. In an exclusive chat, he talks about his role, the challenges of playing Maan, and his bond with co-stars Sreejita De and Priyanshi Yadav.
Why Ishaan Chose Doree 2
Ishaan shares what made him say yes to the show. He explains, “There are a few things we consider—like the character, the lead role, and the channel. I had shortlisted a few shows, and everything happened quickly with Doree, so I took it up.”
Challenges of Playing Maan Thakur
Talking about the challenges of portraying Maan, he says, “Sometimes happiness is real, and sometimes it’s fake. We often laugh to hide our pain. That kind of expression is complicated to show.”
He adds, “I’m slowly getting a grip on the role. As the show moves forward, Maan’s personality will unfold through the script. But for now, making everything look natural is a challenge.”
How Maan is Different from His Previous Roles
Ishaan explains that Maan is not a soft character like his past roles. “My earlier characters had some softness in them. Maan Thakur also has a soft side, but he doesn’t show it.”
He continues, “Sometimes, he gets emotional in front of his grandmother, but otherwise, he remains tough. That’s the biggest difference. Maan is very outspoken, quick to argue, and doesn’t think before speaking.”
Comparing Maan to his character in Dhruv Tara, he says, “Dhruv was older, but Maan is more mature. He carries his childhood trauma, which forced him to grow up faster.”
Does He Feel Pressure to Meet Audience Expectations?
Ishaan says he doesn’t believe in pressure. “If something goes wrong, it goes wrong. If it turns out good, it’s good. But if you put your heart into your work, it can never go wrong. So why feel pressure?”
He adds, “Even if you work with legends like Shah Rukh Khan or Irrfan Khan, your focus should be on playing your character well. Don’t work for show-off, work for peace. Pressure only ruins things.”
His Bond with Co-actors Sreejita and Priyanshi
Talking about his equation with co-stars Sreejita De, Priyanshi Yadav, and others, Ishaan says, “Everyone is nice. It’s not about just one person. Sreejita di, Priyanshi di, Amal ji, Taya ji—everyone is good to me.”
He believes in maintaining professional boundaries and explains, “If you stay professional, everyone is the same. There are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ people. I follow this rule at work, so for me, all of them are nice.”
