Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Legal Trouble, But Kanan Gill Asked the Same Question in 2015 – Netizens Dig Up Old Video
Ranveer Allahbadia is in hot water for his controversial remark on India’s Got Latent, hosted by Samay Raina. But now, an old video of stand-up comedian Kanan Gill asking a similar question to actors Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb has resurfaced, making people question the controversy.
Old Clip of Kanan Gill Goes Viral
As the backlash against Ranveer continues, social media users have found a 2015 clip of Kanan Gill. In the video, Kanan is seen interviewing Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb for their movie Welcome to Karachi. He asks them the same awkward “Would you rather watch…” question, making the actors visibly uncomfortable.
Now that this clip is making rounds, many people are wondering why Ranveer is facing so much criticism while a similar thing in the past was ignored. One person commented, “Why is Ranveer being targeted? We need answers.” Another wrote, “This question has existed for at least 10 years. Ranveer just copied it and got into trouble.” Someone else added, “Gill was not that famous back then. Ranveer and Raina are big names now.”
Legal Trouble for Ranveer Allahbadia and Others
The controversy took a legal turn when, on February 10, a complaint was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, comedian Samay Raina, Jasprit Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, and the show’s organizers. The complaint, submitted to the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accused them of using abusive language on the show.
On February 14, authorities from Mumbai and Guwahati went looking for Ranveer but found his Mumbai home locked. A police officer informed the media that Mumbai police had launched an investigation and visited his Versova residence to question him about the case.
Meanwhile, Samay Raina has requested more time to respond to his summons since he is currently on an international tour.
