Munawar Faruqui’s Show “Hafta Vasooli” Faces Legal Trouble Over Vulgarity Claims
Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui is in trouble again. His latest show, Hafta Vasooli, which streams on JioHotstar, is now facing legal action. A complaint has been filed, accusing the show of hurting religious sentiments and promoting vulgarity. Some people are even demanding a ban on the show.
Complaint Filed Against Munawar Faruqui
Advocate Amita Sachdeva has officially filed a complaint against Hafta Vasooli, asking for an FIR under various sections of the law, including BNS Sections 196, 299, and 353, along with the IT Act. The complaint alleges that the show “insults multiple religions, violates cultural values, and negatively influences young minds and society.”
On February 22, Amita Sachdeva posted about the complaint on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Tagging Munawar Faruqui, the advocate wrote,
“I have officially filed a complaint against habitual offender Munawar Faruqui for his show Hafta Vasooli, streamed on @JioHotstar, requesting an FIR under BNS Sections 196, 299, and 353, along with the IT Act and other relevant sections.”
Objections from Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
Before this, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also raised concerns about Hafta Vasooli. The group tweeted, urging JioHotstar to take action, claiming that the show contains “foul language and negatively impacts moral values.”
About the Show and Recent Controversies
Hafta Vasooli premiered on February 14. The first episode featured actors Sharib Hashmi and Vivian Dsena as guests, while the second episode had Saqib Saleem. Despite the controversy, the show is still streaming, and Munawar Faruqui has not yet responded to the allegations.
Recently, a clip from the show went viral when Munawar took a dig at Elvish Yadav’s snake venom controversy. The complaint against him comes at a time when comedians Samay Raina and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia are also facing legal trouble over their content. Munawar had earlier commented on the Ranveer Allahbadia controversy, showing support for Samay Raina and later joking about BeerBiceps in a separate post.
