How Chum Darang Got the Role in Gangubai Kathiawadi

During the podcast, Chum was asked how she landed the role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. She revealed an interesting story:

“I had taken my grandmother to Delhi for her knee pain. It was just me and my grandmother, and we were staying at my brother’s house. Since my grandmother is very old, in her 80s, there was no one else at home to record my audition. So, she recorded my audition video.”

She further shared, “The makers liked my audition. Then I got a call, and someone said, ‘I’m speaking from Bhansali’s office.’ I told my best friend, but my friend said it was fake. Later, I realized it was actually true, and that’s how I got the role.”

When asked about her experience on set, Chum admitted she was scared while shooting. She shared that she had only a few scenes with Alia Bhatt but admired how Bhansali’s work was so perfect.

She also revealed an interesting fact: Sanjay Leela Bhansali personally selected the colors of the outfits for each character in Gangubai Kathiawadi, showing his attention to detail.

Gangubai Kathiawadi Completes 3 Years

Today, February 25, 2025, marks the third anniversary of Gangubai Kathiawadi. The movie was released on February 25, 2022, and was a huge success at the box office.
