Popular producer Ektaa Kapoor took a trip down memory lane as Hum Paanch, one of India’s most loved comedy shows, completed 30 years. The show, which remains a classic, was Ektaa’s first production, and she was just 19 years old when she launched it. Fans got emotional seeing her post and shared their favorite moments from the show.

Ektaa Kapoor’s Throwback Post

On March 1, Ektaa Kapoor shared a nostalgic throwback video from Hum Paanch on Instagram. The video featured the show’s title song, and in her caption, she wrote:
“Things I did when I was 19! Comedy came before drama! 30 years now.”

Many celebrities, including Krystle Dsouza, Adaa Khan, Rashami Desai, and Urvashi Dholakia, commented on her post. Actress Ridhi Dogra shared a special memory, saying she used to sing the show’s theme song for her classmates in 7th grade.

About Hum Paanch

Premiering in 1995, Hum Paanch was produced under Balaji Telefilms and quickly became a fan favorite. The show followed the life of Anand Mathur, played by Ashok Saraf, a middle-class man dealing with the hilarious antics of his five daughters—Meenakshi, Radhika, Sweety, Kajal, and Choti.

With its funny dialogues, lovable characters, and strong female representation, Hum Paanch became one of the most iconic sitcoms in Indian television history.

Ektaa Kapoor’s Big Break

Hum Paanch was a major turning point for Ektaa Kapoor. It was her first production, launched from a small garage, and she was deeply involved in the show’s making. She ensured actors rehearsed properly and refined their performances. The script for Season 1 was written by Imtiaz Patel.

The show originally aired until 1999 and later returned for a second season in 2005. It even made a comeback during the 2020 lockdown, proving its timeless popularity.
