Shabana Azmi Remembers Her Father’s Dedication on Indian Idol 15
Indian Idol has been one of the most loved singing reality shows on television. Currently, Indian Idol 15 is airing, and many celebrities have appeared on the show to promote their projects. In a recent episode, veteran actress Shabana Azmi made a special appearance to promote her web series, Dabba Cartel.
During the episode, Shabana Azmi shared an emotional memory about her father, Kaifi Azmi, and his deep dedication to his work.
Kaifi Azmi’s Passion for Writing
Sony TV shared a promo of this episode on Instagram, where Shabana Azmi recalled an incident from the 1940s. She revealed that filmmaker Chetan Anand wanted to write a film entirely in shayari (poetry) and believed only Kaifi Azmi could do it.
Shabana Azmi said:
“Kaifi Sahab was so dedicated to his writing that he would stay up the whole night. He had to complete the work within a deadline. Since he had high blood pressure, he took anti-sleeping tablets to stay awake. Because of this, he suffered a paralysis attack.”
Artists and Their Dedication
Reflecting on this, Shabana Azmi added:
“I feel that when an artist is passionate about their work, they become so absorbed in it that they forget about everything else—even their own health and life. All that matters to them is their work.”
Shabana Azmi’s Latest Project
Shabana Azmi’s web series, Dabba Cartel, started streaming on Netflix on February 28. Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, the show features Nimisha Sajayan, Shalini Pandey, Anjali Anand, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Sengupta, and Lillete Dubey in key roles.
