Shark Tank India 4: Aman Gupta’s Funny Response to a Pitcher Offering Him Shilajit Products
The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 (March 7) featured four exciting business pitches. One of them was from two friends who hoped to secure a deal for their health and wellness brand, Zingavita Ayurveda. However, their pitch failed to impress the Sharks, and they walked away without an investment.
The Pitch
Sachin and Dheeraj from Chandigarh introduced Zingavita Ayurveda, a brand focused on improving people’s health with high-quality supplements. Their main products included Himalayan Shilajit, Shilajit effervescent tablets, Shilajit honey, and Shilajit coffee. They wanted to change the common belief that Shilajit is only used by men for sexual wellness. They asked for ₹1 crore for 1.25% equity.
Sharks’ Reactions
The pitchers gave their products to all the Sharks for review. Ritesh Agarwal was the first to give feedback, saying that the products were too expensive. Vineeta Singh asked about how they should be consumed.
Aman Gupta, lifting the products, jokingly said, “Aap ne sab Shilajit banaye hain, Shilajit Shilajit…” (You have made everything with Shilajit). When one of the pitchers suggested he try their Shilajit honey, Aman laughed and replied, “Ye humein nahi zaroorat.” (I don’t need this). His humorous response left everyone amused.
The pitchers explained that they wanted to change people’s perception of Shilajit. Aman then asked why so many wellness brands were suddenly focusing on Shilajit. The pitchers responded that the product had gained popularity in the U.S., which led to increased demand in India as well.
Sharks Question the Business Model
Namita Thapar asked whether the brand had conducted clinical trials to support their claims. Their answer disappointed her, as they simply stated that Indians are already aware of Shilajit’s benefits, and they were not the first brand to introduce it.
At this point, Kunal Bahl challenged their strategy, saying, “Aapko lagta hai ye saman bik raha hai market mein toh hum bhi bech le.” (So you thought since this product is selling in the market, let’s sell it too).
No Deal for Zingavita Ayurveda
Despite their confidence, Sachin and Dheeraj failed to convince the Sharks and had to leave without a deal.
