Ragini Khanna Opens Up About How Long Shooting Hours Affected Her Health
Sasural Genda Phool actress Ragini Khanna recently spoke to Hindi Rush about how long working hours during her television career affected both her physical and mental health.
Working 17-18 Hours a Day
Ragini shared that in her early days in television, she used to work 17 to 18 hours a day. She explained, “Nowadays, actors sign exclusive contracts with channels, so they cannot work on multiple networks. But back when I started, there were no such restrictions. I would shoot for my daily soap 24 days a month, and the remaining 6 days were for reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and India’s Best Dramebaaz. So basically, I was working 30 days a month.”
Non-Stop Shooting and Late-Night Rehearsals
She further described her hectic schedule, saying, “My daily soap had a 9 AM to 9 PM shift. On top of that, if there was an award show or a Star Plus event, rehearsals would start at 10:30 PM and continue till 4 AM.”
Since her character Suhana Kashyap from Sasural Genda Phool was extremely popular, she had to be a part of every promotional event related to the show. “Being part of a hit show has its downsides too,” she added.
Impact on Health
Talking about the effects of such a demanding schedule, Ragini said, “If you are part of a top-rated show, you have to go through this grind. It affected my physical and mental health. I wasn’t depressed, but I was completely exhausted. I couldn’t eat on time and developed gastroenteritis because of it.”
Focusing on Health Now
Ragini, who is also Bollywood actor Govinda’s niece, revealed that she is now taking homeopathy therapy, which has helped improve both her physical and mental well-being.
