Lahore 1947: Sunny Deol Says Aamir Khan Wants Everything Perfect, So the Film Is Taking Extra Time
Sunny Deol’s much-awaited film Lahore 1947 is taking longer than expected to release. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Sunny revealed that the delay is because producer Aamir Khan wants everything to be perfect.
Why the Delay?
During a fan interaction at the Pinkvilla Masterclass, Sunny Deol was asked about the status of Lahore 1947. He shared that while the movie was supposed to release during Republic Day weekend, it got postponed as it’s still in the editing stage.
Sunny said,
“The movie is definitely coming. I started working on it before I began shooting for Jaat. Most of the filming is already done. But now it’s taking a little more time because Aamir Khan is the producer. He wants to take his time to edit and make sure everything is perfect.”
Reuniting With Director Rajkumar Santoshi
Lahore 1947 also marks the return of the Sunny Deol-Rajkumar Santoshi combo, who earlier gave us hits like Ghayal, Ghatak, and Damini. Sunny shared that fans have been waiting to see them work together again.
He said,
“I think everyone wants to see us together again because they love our earlier films. It took us a long time to reunite. We’ve actually been working on Lahore 1947 for many years. A lot of actors had heard the story and were supposed to do it, but it never happened. Then Gadar 2 came, and everything fell into place.”
Sunny also said working with Santoshi again was exciting because they challenged each other creatively. He hopes Lahore 1947 can reach the same success level as their previous films.
Aamir Khan’s Role as Producer
This is the first time Aamir Khan is producing a film with Sunny Deol in the lead role. Sunny said he was pleasantly surprised when Aamir, despite being a big actor, wanted to produce this film.
He said,
“Aamir showed a lot of interest in the project, and the film has come out really well. I hope the audience loves it as much as we do.”

Along with Sunny Deol, the film also stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, and more in important roles.
Fans are excited to see this powerful team come together, and even though it’s taking a bit longer, it sounds like Lahore 1947 will be worth the wait!
