Ektaa explained that when the original show ended in 2008, it had completed 1,850 episodes — falling 150 short of the 2,000-episode milestone. Now, with this reboot, she wants to finish what they started.

She shared,

“The love we have for this show brought everyone back together. We’re doing these last 150 episodes just to reach the 2,000 mark. This show truly deserves it.”

Smriti Irani’s Return as Tulsi?

Ektaa also gave a big hint about Smriti Irani’s comeback. She mentioned,

“We’re mixing politics with entertainment — or rather, bringing a politician back into entertainment.”

This strongly hints at Smriti Irani’s return as Tulsi Virani, the character that made her a household name.

According to Pinkvilla, Smriti is currently undergoing intense training to prepare for her comeback. The reboot will begin with the same emotional opening scene where Tulsi welcomes viewers into her home and introduces the family — just like the original series.

The show is also being shot at the same location as the first season, giving it the same nostalgic vibe. The official announcement is expected to be made by June 2025.
