Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: When Disha Vakani aka Daya Ben Reportedly Rejected a Huge Rs 65 Crore Offer from a Popular Reality Show
Disha Vakani became a household name for playing the lovable and iconic character Daya Ben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. She left the show in 2017, but even after so many years, fans still miss her energy and charm. Interestingly, there was a time when she reportedly turned down a massive offer of Rs 65 crore to join the reality show Bigg Boss 18.
Yes, you read that right! According to reports from back then, the makers of Bigg Boss 18 had approached Disha Vakani with a record-breaking offer of Rs 65 crore. It was said to be the highest amount ever offered to any contestant in the show’s history. But despite the huge money, Disha reportedly said no to the offer. There was no official confirmation, but the buzz around it grabbed a lot of attention.
Some reports also mentioned that this wasn’t the first time she was asked to be part of Bigg Boss. She had been approached before as well, but she always kept her distance from reality TV.
For those who don’t know, Disha Vakani was part of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah since the very beginning. Her unique style, funny dialogues, and lively performance as Daya Ben won the hearts of millions. However, in 2017, she stepped away from the show to focus on her family. Since then, fans have been waiting for her comeback.
Recently, during an interview with SCREEN, the show’s creator Asit Modi spoke about the much-loved character and how fans still miss Daya Ben. He said, “We will definitely bring back the character of Daya Bhabhi. People say they haven’t enjoyed the show as much since her exit—and I completely agree. Our team is working hard to bring her back.”
He also mentioned that Disha has her own priorities now and that they have been exploring other options too. But there is still hope that she might return as Daya Ben.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah features a strong cast including Dilip Joshi, Amit Bhatt, Mandar Chandwadkar, Munmun Dutta, Tanuj Mahashabde, and Sonalika Joshi in important roles.
