India’s Got Latent Controversy: Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina found guilty of obscenity by Maharashtra Cyber Police
Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina are now in trouble after being declared guilty of obscenity by the Maharashtra Cyber Police. This happened after both appeared for questioning in connection with the India’s Got Latent controversy.
The issue began on February 10 when a comment made by Ranveer Allahbadia about the show went viral on social media. After that, several FIRs were filed against him, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and a few others.
On April 15, both Ranveer and Samay went to the Maharashtra Cyber Police office to give their statements. After the investigation, they were found guilty of making obscene remarks.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the police are planning to take strict action soon. Yashasvi Yadav, Additional Director General of Police (Cyber), shared that they will be filing the first chargesheet in the case soon.
During an event held by Maharashtra Cyber on April 11, Yashasvi Yadav said, “In India, we deeply respect our parents. So, if anyone says something obscene about them, it becomes a serious issue.” He also added, “According to the Supreme Court, anything that attracts dirty or vulgar thoughts is considered obscene. The show used such content to get more views and earn money. That’s what we have found during the investigation.”
For those who don’t know, the India’s Got Latent controversy started when Ranveer made a viral comment related to parental s*x. This upset many people, and backlash followed. Viewers also criticized other panelists including Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani. Because of the outrage, all episodes of the show were later removed from the internet.
