EXCLUSIVE: John Abraham Hints at Pathaan Prequel Featuring Jim’s Backstory – Says ‘It Looks Interesting…’

John Abraham won hearts with his powerful villain role as Jim in Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 blockbuster Pathaan. The film was part of the YRF Spy Universe, and ever since its release, fans have been wondering if a prequel about Jim’s backstory might be made. Now, John has finally shared some exciting hints.

In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, John was asked if there’s any plan to make a spin-off focusing on Jim’s past, and whether he had spoken to producer Aditya Chopra about it.

John replied, “With Adi (Aditya Chopra), only he knows what he’s planning in his head. Yes, we’ve had some discussions. I hope it actually happens. I’m not hiding anything—honestly, I don’t know for sure. But I do hope it gets made. It sounds interesting, so fingers crossed.”

John on Being Typecast After Pathaan

During the same conversation, John also shared how actors are often typecast in the film industry. When asked if he received more villain roles after Pathaan, he quickly replied, “Yes, from the South, from the North, from everywhere!”

But John added that he turns them down almost instantly: “It takes me five to seven seconds to say no.”

He also shared advice from his father: “He taught me to say no as easily as I say yes. So I say no, and that’s it—done, over.”
