Tina Knowles Clears Up Beyoncé’s Pregnancy Rumors and More in Her Powerful New Memoir
Tina Knowles is setting the record straight!
Beyoncé and Solange Knowles’ mother has released her tell-all book called Matriarch, where she opens up about the wild rumors that have surrounded her family for years.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Tina said, “Now is the time.”
She explained, “People have so many wrong ideas about my family, and I wanted to tell our story myself, not let others do it.”
Besides being a proud mom to the Grammy-winning Beyoncé and singer Solange, Tina is also a grandmother.
She shared that one big reason for writing her memoir was to protect her grandkids—Solange’s son Julez Smith, 20, and Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s children, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir.
Tina said she worried that one day her grandchildren would read all the lies and nasty rumors about their family online.
However, she made it clear that the book is not about telling her daughters’ personal stories. “They have their own stories to tell,” she added.
One of the biggest rumors Tina cleared up was about Beyoncé’s pregnancy.
Years ago, people accused Beyoncé of faking her pregnancy with her daughter Blue Ivy.
Tina said that this rumor hurt deeply and made her feel helpless because she couldn’t defend her daughter publicly.
Speaking to People magazine, she said it was “the worst” experience.
She explained how painful it was to see people saying terrible things about the people she loves most.
Tina said it felt awful because family is what she considers the most sacred thing in her life.
In Matriarch, Tina also opens up about other personal experiences, like Solange getting pregnant at 17, secretly meeting up with her ex-husband after their divorce, and battling breast cancer in 2014.
