Peaky Blinders Is Coming Back With a New Series—Filming Starts This Summer: Report
Good news for Peaky Blinders fans! The hit show, starring Cillian Murphy, is set to return with a brand-new series. According to media reports, filming will begin this summer, and the story will pick up years after the last season ended.
Big Time Jump in the Story
The last season ended in the 1930s, during the rise of the Teddy Boy gangs. But the new series will take place in the 1950s, after World War II. A source told The Sun that even though season six was meant to be the final chapter, the show’s creator, Steven Knight, decided to continue the story.
BBC Gives the Green Light
The source said, “Steven has been hinting for a while that he wanted to make more episodes. Now the BBC has officially approved the project, and pre-production has already started, which is exciting news for fans.”
Filming is expected to start in September 2025, and the new season will likely air in 2026 on BBC One. For international viewers, it will also stream on Netflix.
Cillian Murphy Likely to Return
The cast hasn’t been confirmed yet, but reports suggest that Cillian Murphy will return as Tommy Shelby. His character will be older and more experienced in the upcoming season. He might also mentor a younger generation of gangsters.
A Look Back at the Original Show
Peaky Blinders first aired in 2013 and wrapped up in 2022. The show followed the rise of the Shelby family in Birmingham after World War I and became a global hit.
What’s Next for Tommy Shelby?
Cillian Murphy will also play Tommy Shelby in the upcoming movie The Immortal Man. The film takes place around the time of World War II, and this time, Shelby will face new threats—including the Nazis.
More updates about the new series and movie are expected soon.
