Nikki Tamboli’s Emotional Story: Mom’s Stage 2 Cancer Battle

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Nikki Tamboli shares how her mother battled stage 2 cancer, and how the entire family ended up in hospitals

In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, actress Nikki Tamboli opened up about one of the most difficult times in her life—when her whole family was facing health issues and her mother was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer.

Nikki, who was last seen in Celebrity MasterChef, recalled how she was living in Chennai for her South Indian film projects when her mother was diagnosed. “My mom had stage 2 cancer. Luckily, South films pay well, so I had savings. We admitted mom immediately. Around the same time, my dad also had a hernia problem,” she said.

She further shared that her father used to carry heavy sacks from the farm, which caused his hernia. As if that wasn’t enough, her brother had a health issue too. “My brother had to get a hip replacement. All three—mom, dad, and brother—were admitted to different hospitals,” Nikki revealed.

Nikki described how she juggled work and hospital visits. “After shooting, I used to keep my bag at home and rush to the hospitals—first to mom, then dad, then brother. It was such a hard time.”

Even though her mother was seriously ill, Nikki said the family made sure to keep a positive atmosphere at home. “I believe it’s not just the medicines that helped mom recover, but also our positive vibes. We never made it feel like she was a cancer patient.”

She explained how the whole family stayed strong. “We were in shock, but we didn’t break down. My dad didn’t break his fixed deposits. My brother continued working. I took charge of everything.”

She also mentioned how grateful she is for getting help at the right time. “Raghava Lawrence sir signed me for another movie worth Rs 10 lakh. I had already worked in two other films. So I had money. During the lockdown, I even got the offer for Bigg Boss 14.”

Nikki got emotional recalling her mom’s chemotherapy sessions. “My mom would cry after chemo. It was extremely painful, especially because she was over 50. She couldn’t handle the pain,” Nikki said.

She shared a heartbreaking memory: “She used to feel so cold that she would ask us to use a blow dryer on her legs. When we did, she would scream, not because it was hot, but because she needed even more heat. She was in so much pain.”

Nikki said her mother, who comes from an army background, had the mental strength to fight through it. She also remembered how the entire family stayed up at night to take care of one another. “We used to sit together and talk about our future.”

She also recalled how, during the lockdown, her dad got an infection after his hernia surgery and had to wear a medical bag. Despite all the troubles, Nikki feels everything somehow worked out in the end.

On the work front, Nikki was last seen in Celebrity MasterChef.
