Jackky Bhagnani Opens Up About Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Flop: “We Had to Mortgage Properties as a Family”

Jackky Bhagnani has finally spoken about the failure of the 2024 big-budget movie Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The action film starred Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff and was made with a huge budget of ₹400 crore. But it only earned around ₹111 crore worldwide in 56 days, which caused major financial losses for Jackky’s family and their production house, Pooja Films.

Jackky Says the Experience Was a Big Lesson

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Jackky admitted that the film’s failure taught him a lot. He said they spent a lot of money thinking the scale and star cast would be enough, but that wasn’t the case.

“We invested a lot, but I learned that just making a film big isn’t enough. The audience didn’t connect with it. And the audience is always right. If the story doesn’t work, we need to go back and rethink everything.”

Family Had to Mortgage Properties to Cover Losses

Jackky also shared how deeply the film’s poor performance affected them emotionally and financially.

“As a family, we had to mortgage our properties to make this movie. We’ve stayed quiet about it, but it has been very tough.”

There were also earlier reports that Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky’s father and the producer, had to sell their Mumbai office to help clear debts of around ₹250 crore. On top of that, a financial fraud case was reportedly filed by the Bhagnanis against the film’s director, Ali Abbas Zafar, making things even more difficult.

Jackky’s Personal Life: Marriage to Rakul Preet Singh

Outside of his work, Jackky has been in the news for his relationship with actress Rakul Preet Singh. The couple got married in a private ceremony in Goa on February 21, 2024. Their love story began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, when they were living close to each other and grew closer naturally.

“We were just spending time together, being ourselves,” Rakul had said in an earlier interview.

Since then, Jackky and Rakul have often posted sweet moments from their life together on social media. They’ve become one of Bollywood’s favorite young couples, known for their strong bond and support for each other, both in personal life and in their careers.
