Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 has been captivating viewers with inspiring contestant stories, but Amitabh Bachchan’s personal stories often make the show even more special. Recently, with special guests Boman Irani and Farah Khan on set, Big B took a moment to talk about Ratan Tata.
During the chat, Amitabh spoke warmly about Ratan Tata, describing him as a humble, simple person and said, “What a person he was, I can’t even describe.” He then shared two memorable stories that showed just how down-to-earth Ratan Tata was.
In one story, Amitabh recalled a flight he and Ratan Tata were on together to London. He said, “Once, we were both on the same flight to London. We landed at Heathrow Airport.” Big B explained that Tata couldn’t find the people who were supposed to pick him up. Instead of worrying, he calmly went to a phone booth to make a call. Amitabh was standing nearby, and then Ratan Tata approached him, saying, “Amitabh, can I borrow some money from you? I don’t have money to make a phone call!”
In another story, Big B remembered an event he attended with Ratan Tata and some friends. When the event was over, Ratan Tata asked one of their mutual friends, “Can you drop me home? I live just behind your house.” Amitabh was amazed by this, saying, “Can you believe it? Ratan Tata didn’t have a car with him!”
For those who may not know, Ratan Tata passed away on October 10, 2024, in Mumbai at the age of 86. Amitabh shared his condolences on social media, posting a picture with him and writing, “An era has just passed away… his humility, his great resolve, his vision, and his dedication to making the Nation proud. It was an honor to work with him on humanitarian causes… A very sad day… my prayers.”
