Anupam Mittal’s Advice to Shark Tank India 4 Pitcher: ‘Sometimes It’s Better Not to Get What You Want’
The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 featured a pitch from a woman entrepreneur who runs Tileskraft, a company offering both luxury and affordable tiles under one brand. She comes from a family that has been in this industry for three generations.
Her Pitch and Business Idea
For the past two years, she has been building her business model through a website. Now, she wants to expand it through an app to connect suppliers and buyers more efficiently. She asked the Sharks for ₹60 lakh in exchange for 12% equity to help scale her idea.
How the Sharks Reacted
Anupam Mittal welcomed her and appreciated her effort, especially since she is the only woman in this sector. She also gifted the Sharks caricatures of themselves printed on tiles, which they loved.
During the discussion, Anupam Mittal and Peyush Bansal struggled to understand how her business was different from her father’s. Vineeta Singh stepped in, explaining that her company focused on sample creation.
However, the Sharks had concerns:
- Peyush Bansal felt that she was overcomplicating the business and backed out.
- Vineeta Singh believed she still had a long way to go before raising funds and stepped away.
- Aman Gupta and Kunal Bahl also chose not to invest.
Anupam Mittal’s Advice to the Pitcher
Before making his decision, Anupam Mittal asked the pitcher: “Do you believe in God?”
When she said yes, he replied:
“Believe that sometimes, it’s better to not get what you want.”
He explained that she was in a learning phase, and if she brought in investors too soon, she might lose both learning and earning opportunities.
With that, Mittal also decided not to invest, leaving the entrepreneur without a deal.
