Anupamaa Crew Member’s Death Sparks Outrage: AICWA Calls for Justice and Strict Action
A tragic accident on the set of the popular TV show Anupamaa on November 14, 2024, led to the death of a focus-puller (camera assistant). The 32-year-old crew member lost his life due to electrocution caused by faulty equipment.
AICWA Demands Justice
The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA), which works for the safety and rights of film industry workers, called this incident “institutionalized murder.” They accused the producers, the production house, and the channel of negligence and greed.
In a letter addressed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, AICWA’s President, Suresh Shamlal Gupta, demanded strict action against those responsible. The association urged the authorities to file an FIR under IPC Section 302 (murder) against the producers, production house, channel, and other parties involved.
Details of the Incident
The electrocution occurred around 9:30 PM due to poorly maintained equipment on set. Despite the tragic event, the shooting continued until midnight and resumed the next day as usual.
Reports state that an FIR has already been registered against the electrical contractor for negligence. However, AICWA has demanded further action to ensure accountability.
What AICWA Wants
- An FIR under IPC Section 302 against all responsible parties.
- Compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased.
- Strict safety protocols to be enforced on sets.
- A halt in Anupamaa’s production until justice is served.
