Former Anupamaa actors Paras Kalnawat, Nidhi Shah, and Sudhanshu Pandey recently opened up about their departures from the show, hinting at difficulties working with the lead actress, Rupali Ganguly.
Sudhanshu Pandey, who played Vanraj, shared that Anupamaa was his first daily soap and that the show had a huge impact when it started during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, he felt it was time to move on as his character risked becoming repetitive, which he feared would bore the audience.
Nidhi Shah, who played Kavya, explained that Sudhanshu faced many struggles in his role. She recalled times when his intense performances took a toll on his health, with him even needing 5-6 painkillers a day. She said, “He was so unwell at times that he couldn’t stand properly, and we all had to wait while he rested.”
Paras Kalnawat, who portrayed Samar and had a surprising exit, revealed, “I was the first to leave, though I didn’t know if I left or was thrown out.” He shared his disappointment over the sudden end of his character’s storyline. Without naming anyone, he hinted that one particular person’s complaints influenced his departure, adding, “Everyone knows who it was.”
Nidhi also described her experience, saying it had reached a “trigger point.” She explained that constant arguments in the scenes drained them, making her feel like she no longer wanted to work together. She supported Paras’s point, mentioning that her scenes were often cut, and she faced issues with costumes and makeup as well.
When asked if Rupali Ganguly, the lead, was challenging to work with, Nidhi commented that she’s a talented actor, making Sudhanshu and Paras laugh, with Sudhanshu jokingly asking, “Who’s saying all this?”
In the meantime, Gaurav Khanna, who played Anuj Kapadia before his own exit, shared a cryptic message on social media, writing, “Besides gravity, nothing keeps me down… try harder next time,” which caught fans’ attention.
For those unaware, Anupamaa recently took a time jump, and Rupali Ganguly is now the only original cast member continuing with new actors joining the show.
