Anupamaa’s Manish Goel on Women-Centric TV Shows: ‘50% of the Industry Relies on Them’

Anupamaa EXCLUSIVE: Manish Goel Shares Strong Opinion on TV Shows—’50% of the Industry…’

Actor Manish Goel, who recently joined Anupamaa as Raghav, shared his thoughts on the current state of TV shows. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, he spoke about the importance of television, how content is evolving, and why most TV shows are women-centric.

TV Shows Will Always Be the Audience’s Favorite

Manish believes that TV will always remain popular as long as it meets the audience’s expectations. He said:

🗣️ “Whether it’s films, TV, or OTT, so many shows are made every year, but only a few truly connect with people. Back in the early 2000s, almost every show was a hit, but things have changed now.”

According to him, competition is tougher today because content is available on multiple platforms, including social media. However, he believes that shows like Anupamaa prove that TV still holds a strong place in family entertainment, especially for women.

Why Are Most TV Shows Women-Centric?

Manish strongly feels that while TV is evolving, it’s still not fully there. He pointed out that:

📌 “50% of the industry has evolved, but I have yet to see a fully male-driven TV show. Why not? Why does every TV show revolve around female leads? We need to break this pattern. I would love to be part of a change that explores male-centric storytelling.”

However, he also clarified that this isn’t about male ego. Instead, he wants to highlight different perspectives that are often overlooked.

TV Shows Change Based on Audience Preferences

Manish also spoke about how TV content constantly changes depending on what viewers like.

🗣️ “Television runs on TRPs. I don’t fully understand how the system works, but it clearly controls everything. Storylines and content keep changing based on what the audience prefers.”

He believes this flexibility is what makes TV special—it allows writers, actors, and producers to experiment with new ideas.

New Twists Coming in Anupamaa

With Manish Goel’s entry as Raghav, Anupamaa is set to bring exciting new twists. The show also stars Adrija Roy and Shivam Khajuria in key roles.

It will be interesting to see how Manish’s character changes the storyline! What do you think about his views on male-centric TV shows? 🤔
